FAQ

Questions, answered straight

How do I get a quote?+

Use the quote form and attach a photo or two, rough dimensions and a description of what you need. We'll assess it, ask anything we need to know and send a written quote. For anything unusual, a quick call helps.

Are quotes free?+

Yes — all quotes are free and no-obligation, including when we need to come out and look at the job first.

Do you need to see the job in person?+

Often a clear photo with something for scale (a tape measure or a hand) is enough to quote a repair or a small component. For larger, fixed or custom jobs — gates, handrails, frames, anything that has to fit an exact space — we'll usually come out to look at the job and measure up before quoting. We'll tell you which when you get in touch.

Can you repair it, or does it need replacing?+

We'll tell you honestly. Cracked or worn steel can often be repaired and reinforced; badly rusted or fatigued components are sometimes cheaper and safer to remake. The quote will say which.

What materials do you work with?+

Mainly mild steel and galvanised steel in plate, tube and section. If your job involves another material, ask — we'll let you know whether it's something we can do properly.

Do you come to site?+

To look at and measure up a job, yes — we'll come out where it's needed. The fabrication itself is currently done at the workshop, so items are dropped off or delivered to us. Mobile welding and on-site fabrication are planned for the future.

How long will it take?+

Small repairs are often quick; custom fabrication depends on materials and the current workload. Every quote includes an indicative timeframe, and if you have a deadline, put it in the quote form.

Are you qualified and insured?+

Rivals Welding & Fabrication is run by a qualified boilermaking and fabrication tradesman. Insurance details are available on request.

Do prices include GST?+

The business is not currently registered for GST, so quotes and invoices do not include GST. This will be stated clearly on every document.

Can you do trade or repeat work for my business?+

Yes. Builders, earthmoving and transport operators, landscapers, factories and other trades are welcome — see the trade businesses page.
